Cockburn is still absorbing the national shock that struck earlier this week when TBS announced it was canceling Full Frontal with Samantha Bee. The left-wing laughapalooza, starring Canadian-American comic Samantha Bee, was a ratings powerhouse that regularly came in a formidable twelfth place among the late-night shows. Now that the plug has been pulled, an uneasy question descends: where will liberals go for derivative, sanctimonious comedy that caters to them?
Fortunately there are other options. Cockburn runs down just a few.
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert: Once the Daily Show‘s funniest correspondent, Stephen Colbert now spends his time joking about “Vladimir Putin’s cock holster,” getting his staff arrested at the Capitol building, and somehow getting beaten in the demo by Greg Gutfeld.
Last Week Tonight with John Oliver: Comedian John Oliver reads from the instruction manual to a Toro lawnmower while periodically looking up at the camera and screaming “F**K!!”
Jimmy Kimmel Live!: ABC once again gives the nation exactly what it needs: nightly wokescoldings from the former host of The Man Show.
Late Night with Seth Meyers: This prestige drama follows the business dealings and betrayals of the dysfunctional Roy family as they jostle for control of a global media and entertainment conglomerate.
Real Time with Bill Maher: This show has been figuratively canceled.
The Opposition with Jordan Klepper: This show has been actually canceled.
The Daily Show with Trevor Noah: In the vein of VH1 hits like I Love the 90s, this show reminds us how much cooler things used to be in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
The Problem with Jon Stewart: This is not a real show.
