Emma Tucker has had her work cut out for her since she was moved from London to New York, and from the editorship of the Sunday Times to the helm of the Wall Street Journal. The step up to the pride of Murdoch’s newspaper stable from its plucky British cousin was enough of a challenge. Then Evan Gershkovich was arrested by Vladimir Putin’s goons, putting the paper’s leadership into full-blown crisis-management mode.
Cockburn understands that the flat-out Tucker has been underwhelmed by the work ethic of her new American colleagues. “What do they all do all day?” she is reportedly prone to wondering out loud. The Wall Street Journal’s newsroom is gargantuan compared to the Sunday Times — and its 1,800 or so journalists constitute a vast army by any editor’s standards. The Journal is famous for a laborious and bureaucratic editing process, just the sort of thing Fleet Street dynamos like Tucker can’t stand about self-serious American journalism.
Tucker’s trusty lieutenant is managing editor Liz Harris, an Aussie who Tucker brought with her from London. Two top WSJ editors were cut this week, and Harris will surely be looking for further efficiencies soon. The pair were adroit cost-cutters in London and are gearing up to take a similar approach in New York. To any Wall Street Journal employees reading, Cockburn advises you get back into the office and make yourself busy, pronto!
The unvaxxed blood ’n’ sperm store
If you’re in need of a one-stop-shop for an unvaccinated-only dating platform, blood, sperm and egg donor bank and business directory, then look no further. The unvaccinated have a new online community called 4thePURE, whose board president is QAnon favorite and former US national security advisor, General Michael Flynn.
If you aren’t convinced about the site, don’t take Flynn’s word for it. There are multiple “testimonials,” including Dr. Charles Hoffe, a Canadian doctor who was suspended from the emergency ward and subject to hearing by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC after spreading “misleading, incorrect or inflammatory about vaccinations, treatments, and public measures relating to Covid-19.” It is unclear whether any of those featured on the site gave their blessing for their quotes to be featured: former CDC director Rochelle Walensky is also quoted.
Florida business filings indicate that 4thePURE’s founders are registered Republicans Christopher and Kimberly Recchia, along with Stephen Rodenbeck. It’s not the Recchias’ first foray into business together: apparently they also used to run a vegan eatery called Seed to Table.
If you’re wondering how much meeting your dream woman or what some sweet, unvaxxed semen will cost, a single membership is $2,500. Or corporations can purchase fifteen lifetime memberships for $25k. A steal!
Claudia Conway, Playboy Bunny
Claudia Conway, the now eighteen-year-old daughter of Kellyanne and George Conway, is a Playboy Bunny — sort of. The former American Idol contestant recently started offering raunchy pics for as little as $5 on Playboy.com’s new subscription platform for influencers, Centerfold.
Claudia was first thrust into the spotlight when she started making anti-Trump posts on her TikTok back in 2020. Even though she was only fifteen at the time, click-hungry reporters such as Taylor Lorenz boosted the videos across their social media platforms. The ensuing Conway family feud culminated in accusations of abuse and a pending divorce.
“When i was 15-16, i was exploited by the media, preyed upon, and was forced into portraying myself as something i wasn’t. my body was taken from me,” Claudia wrote on Twitter in response to the Playboy news. “Now, as a young adult, i am aiming to reclaim my womanhood and femininity in a way that is truly mine.”
Daily Mail readers are responding to Claudia’s latest bout of attention-seeking behavior by piling on George. After all, weak fathers create weak families, as the saying goes.
“Her father is probably her agent,” one popular comment read.
Another top reply said, “So George Conway FAILED as a father. Your number one job as a father is to keep your daughter OFF the pole.”
All Cockburn can say, to borrow from Kellyanne’s old boss and George’s old enemy is… sad!
Endorsements With Attitude
The unlikeliest foreword of the week accompanies former Trump and Jared Kushner acolyte Ja’Ron Smith’s new book, Underserved. “This book is about failures and successes. It shows a pathway for many communities to rise,” writes NWA rapper Ice Cube, in a statement co-written with Jeffrey Kwatinetz. The 21 Jump Street actor worked with Smith and his co-author Chris Pilkerton in attempting to enact the Contract with Black America after they left the Trump administration. Their book release must have been A Good Day…
