Trump campaign brings back Corey Lewandowski, the ‘MAGA Pete Davidson’

The Trump campaign just expanded its circle of senior campaign advisors to welcome five new operatives, including former Trump 2016 campaign manager Corey Lewandowski.

With roughly eighty days until the election, Trump is attempting to reunite the dream team that got him into the White House back in 2016. Lewandowski will reportedly serve above Trump’s co-campaign managers Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles, amid rumors that they are the most vulnerable on Trump’s campaign. 

They “are all veterans of prior Trump campaigns, and their unmatched experience will help President Trump prosecute the case against Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, the most radical ticket in American history,” LaCivita and Wiles said.  

Tim Murtaugh, communications director for the 2020 campaign, and Alex Pfeiffer, Alex Bruesewitz and Taylor Budowich, top officials and leader of the MAGA Inc. super PAC, will also be joining the campaign.  

Lewandowski’s reputation precedes him. In March 2016, he was arrested after intentionally grabbing and bruising the arm of Michelle Fields, a female reporter. He was charged with misdemeanor battery, but the charges were eventually dropped because of a lack of evidence. 

In 2021, Lewandowski was accused by a top Trump donor’s wife, Trashelle Odom, of making unwanted sexual advances towards her at a Las Vegas charity dinner. He was charged with a misdemeanor but was able to get it dismissed by agreeing to complete impulse control therapy and community service and pay a fine. He was fired from the Trump campaign months later and was also ousted from MAGA Inc., where he served as the leader. Lewandowski was also rumored to have been romantically involved with South Dakota governor Kristi Noem, an allegation the governor and onetime Trump VP prospect strenuously denied. He also previously dated Trump aide Hope Hicks — with his reputation as a lothario resulting in him being branded the “MAGA Pete Davidson” in a Cockburn gossip column last year.

The new hires are an interesting move from the guy whose catchphrase is literally, “You’re fired.” But Trump has historically introduced new advisors in the summer months, replacing Brad Parscale with Bill Stepien in 2020 and introducing Kellyanne Conway, Steve Bannon and David Bossie in 2016.
