Where will Melania Trump live in her husband’s potential second term?

Melania Trump might not return to DC full-time for Trump’s possible second term, according to Axios. The article is predicated on a survey of a “handful of Melania-ologists,” because a spokesperson for Melania didn’t respond to Axios’s request for comment. As the article mentioned: “Melania does what Melania wants” — and Cockburn doesn’t blame her one bit.

In February, when asked if Melania would be on the campaign trail much, Donald Trump said: “She was a very successful model, very, very successful, and yet she was a private person. She’s going to be out a lot. Not because she likes doing it, but she likes the results.” The former first lady, however, has not been in attendance at most of Trump’s campaign events.

Melania was last spotted a week ago arriving at Trump Tower with son Barron after her husband left New York for a rally in Milwaukee. Melania was also seen with the former president at Barron’s graduation ceremony in May. “Her life revolves around that boy,” Trump said at one point. “It’s so important to her.”

The Axios report addresses rumors spread about Melania living with her parents during Trump’s presidency. If Trump gets re-elected, she may move back in with her dad, continue living in Palm Beach at Mar-a-Lago or move to New York where Barron may be attending NYU.

“I mean, she clearly hated being in Washington,” said Kate Anderson Brower, writer of several books about the White House and first ladies. While the first ladies of the United States have a highfalutin tradition to uphold, a case could easily be made that Melania is not very welcome in elite spheres. As one example: during Trump’s presidency Melania never appeared in Vogue magazine. Vogue has a history dating back almost a hundred years of featuring presidents’ wives within its pages, with Hillary Clinton and Jill Biden scoring a cover and Michelle Obama appearing three times on the cover. Melania, a supermodel in the White House, never appeared in the magazine while Trump was president.

Cockburn doesn’t know whether to trust these supposed “Melania-ologists” Axios got in touch with or not, but it would be no surprise for him to see Melania swerve DC if her husband gets elected.
